Rates of profit in pari materia.

account of earnings, partioalass are given but the time comprised
in this account is no more than a single week; and,
in regard to that period of a week the same uncertainty,
as that above indicated in relation to the period
of two years, has been produced by the same
cause.

Answer, the same as that which stands
applied to the fifth rate — the last preceding rate as
above.

II For the Claimant — Observations No 1, 2, 3,
and is the same as these which are brought to view
in relation to the five preceding cases, as above.

5 Observation the 5th In the instance of these two
last rates, being the two Southwell Rates, the smallness of
the rate, as compared with the largeness of it in the
Claimants Cases will be found particularly observable. In the
Southwell Prison, in the above mentioned selected and most
favourable week, the number of the Prisoners is not stated
at more than 26, of of which number, 3 are stated as
unemployed; leaving for the number employed no more
than 23.

In the same Table in and for "the last year"
"described as being "the year ending the 24th day of June", but
no year mentioned, the "average number in custody" is stated
as no greater than 20; "average number employed" no greater
than 13 3/4 - On looking over the employments,
specified in this weekly account, only two will be found,
to which, in a situation such as the Claimants, with
any such view as that of profit, any man could for a
moment have entertained a thought of giving admission
These are Shoemaking and Frame work knitting
Number of the earners Shoemakers, 3: weekly earnings,
14.5 - 10.5 and 8. - Frame work Knitters 4 in
weekly earnings 11.. 3 1/2 - 9 - 8.10 - 8.1
Put together these make 7 out of the 23 working.
