Frauds relative to the Coin
2. Cases where the intent may not be fraudulent, viz; 1. Experiment Accordingly a piece of genuine coin is not diminished with
a fraudulent intent if the diminution be effected only in the
way of experiment for the advancement of science : for instance
by assaying the piece or exposing it to a partial dissolution,
taking care afterwards not to pass it off as if it were undiminished.
