Radicalism not dangerous
II. Nature of the case
§.4.IV Property of other shapes
The sort of the fictitious entity subject matter thus alluded to
is a government annuity: money or what passes
for money, undertaken to be paid by the hand of government at in
certain portions, at certain stated periods, and that for ever un till redeemed, in return for
money formerly received.
This being but a particular species of debt —
a debt c of payable in a particular certain manner, and
by a particular hand — the description thus given of it
will serve for all other debts for all debts payable in all other
manners, but and by all other hands.
Of debts in any other shape, or due from every other
hands, nothing need on the occasion b be said: if the value
of property in this particular shape is seen to vanish before
the dividing hand, still more necessity, if possible
will it be seen to do so, in any of these other shapes.
The difficulties that stand in the way of division
case of property in the two other shapes have
been seen: and in particular that which arises out of
the necessity, combined with the impossibility, the process of valuation.
[+] None of these difficulties apply tohave place in the case [+] Another confession
must here be made;
namely, that none
of a government annuity. By aso simple instant
process, an operation as that of an arithmetical the whole mass of property in this shape
might, as every body sees at once, be cut out into any number of shares: and int
this, taking for the number not merely that ofmly the 12 millions assumed at a round d number
to been and labour, but the exact number of
inhabitants in the existing country, at the close of any given
day, whatever day, and that might
happen tp be.
