This species of falshood is seen not uncommonly to
manifest itself in most of the shapes which falshood
can assume . Sometimes it in the shape of ordinary simple
falshood ; in which case it comes under the notion of that
sort of practise which is commonly called puffing .(a)
Under To this head belong the false attestations
which are but too frequently published exhibited in
the public  : [+] To this species of falshood the
medical profession is more particularly obnoxious . Sometimes
the names of the attestors are forged : and sometimes
the sanction of an oath is profaned in order to
give additional credit to the imposture. (b)

In this case the characteristic quality
of the ignomineous part of the punishment might be
enhanced by an additional ceremony , which might
be termed the punishment of the puffer's throne . Falshood <add>To p. 45 S/*9.</add>
