And be it Enacted, That the plaintiff <hi rend="underline">in every such action</hi> shall <note> 15 </note> state in writing the ground of his action, and cause one copy of the same to be filed with the Registrar of the Court, who shall <hi rend="underline"> paste </hi> the same in a book to be by him kept for that purpose;  and a copy or copies thereof, signed by such plaintiff or plaintiffs, shall be served upon the <add>Delay Day</add> defendant, and specifying the place of abode of himself or his attorney, <note> 20 </note> by a messenger of the court, <hi rend="underline"> Three weeks </hi> before the sitting of the court <add> 21 </add> at which he intends to try the cause; and such written statement shall set forth <hi rend="underline"> clearly </hi> and <hi rend="underline"> shortly </hi>  the real sum demanded, <hi rend="underline"> if the action n</hi> he has for any <hi rend="underline"> debt </hi> specifying whether it hath been by <add> 1 </add> bill of exchange or promissory note, or <add> 2 </add> for money lent by the plaintiff, or <add> 3 </add><gap/> </note> money received <note> 25 </note> to his use , or <add> 4 </add> money paid for him, or <add> 5 for work done,</add> or <add> 6 </add> for goods sold, or for <hi rend="underline"> any other matter of things; </hi> and shall set forth, if the action be for the breach of any agreement, or of the condition of any written obligation, the <hi rend="underline"> purport </hi> of such agreement, condition and the <hi rend="underline"> breach </hi> of such obligation or condition, with the damages claimed in respect thereof; and <note> 30 </note> shall set forth, if the action be upon any <hi rend="underline"> trespass </hi>in taking, or upon trover or conversion and the <hi rend="underline"> real value</hi> of the goods, with any <hi rend="underline"> damages </hi> which may be claimed over and above <hi rend="underline"> the value </hi>; and shall set forth, if the action be upon any personal tort, the injury complained of, and the nature thereof, stating <note> 35 </note> whether it be assault or battery, or false imprisonment, or slander, or libel, or seduction, or criminal conversation, or false representation of character or credit, or malicious prosecution, or malicious arrest, or other personal injury whatsoever for which an action may be maintained by law.<note> 40 </note> </p>
