The Substance of the Clauses in
the Act for better preventing the
Counterfeiting of the Gold, Silver, & Copper
Monies of this Realm.
1st ...... Recites Act of 11. Geo. 3d making it felony to counterfeit
Halfpence or farthings or sell the same for less than
their reputed value.
2d ...... Recites Act of 38. Geo. 3d making it felony to
counterfeit penny or Twopenny pieces.
3 ...... Enacts that it shall be felony to make evasive
halfpence or Copper blanks with devices to pass for
halfpence.
4 ...... That it shall be felony to make Dies &ca or having
such in possession for coining Copper monies.
5d ...... Power to transport for 7 Years on Conviction of
any offence made felony by said recited Acts or
therein before made felony.
6 ...... Presses and other Implements to be registered with
such persons as Treasury shall appoint penalty £50.
7 ...... Register there of to be kept & Certificates given.
8 ...... Power to search and take Extracts there from, and
penalty on refusal, or making false Entry.
9 ...... Misdemeanor to utter Counterfeit Copper money
or Copper Tokens penalty 20/+ to be mitigated
to half by a subsequent Clause.
10 ...... Power to search for and detain Coining Implements.
