Theft Anomailities Restrictive
If we now we take measure of the total amplitude of these exceptions; & for that purpose by applying them to the celebrated
natural divisions of Terrestrial things into the 3 grand classes or Kingdoms as they are
called, viz: the Animal the vegetable & the Mineral, we shall find that they two latter have upturned
over the whole two latter during a necessary and indefinitely protracted period of their existence
we shall find that after that period has been brought to a conclusion by the
artificial operations
of the Human species, the most valuable of them are during another period also indefinite
tho' not so extended as the former, subjected brought by the artificial operation to within another
of those exceptions. That of the subjects Animal Kingdom, a very superior number is subjected
during the continuance at least of this life
to a third; and thus it may be said without exaggeration, inasmuch that it means with truth that the Law excluded
more than one half of the
various orbits which men decide are capable of exciting the cupidity of men have been were by the common Law excluded shut out from it's protection
If it be difficult If these exceptions had any better to find a better foundation than caprice for these exceptions it would be found very to be for these exceptions; it
be found not much as easyless to settle the import of these terms: and perhaps the more closely assiduously
we may examined for the differencing the more we may find it from our & elude our grasps
character between the mode of existence which falls within these & that which lies without them, nor perhaps is any such character extricable after all, without some positive interpretative constitution to cut the Gordian knot.
