With regard to the facility of getting employment<lb/>the female sex are apt to be under<lb/>peculiar disadvantage. This is the case more<lb/>particularly with those who <del>are of a rank</del><lb/>are of <add>a rank</add> classes which though not superior to<lb/>industry are <add>somewhat</add> above the condition of ordinary<lb/>labour. These find themselves in but too great<lb/>a degree bereft of employment by the superior<lb/>activity, liberty and perhaps dexterity of the<lb/>men. Employments which seem peculariarly<lb/>suited to the female sex and which can scarcely<lb/>be practised without indecorum by the male<lb/>are <add>either</add> shared in by the latter or engrossed.<lb/>We see more mashin <add>men-haberdashers,</add> men-milliners, men<lb/>makers of women's shews, men stay-makers,<lb/>and above all men-midwives.
