Morning Chron. Sept. 22. 1819 — Extract from —

"We rejoice to find from the Dublin Paper received yesterday,
"that all attempt to encourage Radical Reform Meetings
"have failed in Ireland. The lower classes in that Country are
obliged to work for their bread, and have no poor rates to subsist
on; they, therefore, have not time to devote to meetings
of this description; besides, the Elective franchise is much
more extensive in Ireland than in England. Leases for lives
are the general made of tenure, and thus there is scarcely
a Tenant with a house over his head who does not rank as
a forty shilling freeholder. The people of Ireland may be therefore
considered as almost exercising the right of universal suffrage in
their present civil and political state. It has been finally resolved
by Government not to call out the militia in Ireland
this year.
