Panopt. Compensation Claim §. Capital Expended
(1) 15 Defect all claimed
Difference now

In lieu of the strict and particular amount which
it would have been proper for me to have required of me
had the money expected been instead of my own, so much public
money entrusted to me on account, the in trust to be expended
for the use of the public, and therefore accordingly declaredly subject
to account, the evidence and only evidence I have it
in my power to produce, is as follows

1. An account of Estates in the possession Rental in the
1. My late Fathers Rental Book all written in his
own hand containing an account of all his < including
those which upon his decrease in March 1792 devolving either upon myself or my Brother
either by descent, Will or Settlement, were at different
times sold by us or one of us (they were chiefly mine ) in being
the item) the money applied to the purposes of the experimental
inquiry and intended manufacturing establishment abovementioned —
to the amount of upwards of £500 of which
a small part only Copyhold — the rest Freehold of term
aggregate value about £12,000 more or less.

2. The particulars of the sales as given in by the Auctioneer
Mr Young of Chancery Lane: together with that of the <gap/ values
respectively fixed upon by him as those under which they ought
not to be sold.

3. My own declaration in relation to the amount of the
expenditure my own declaration as contained in my evidence
Examination passed the June 1798 before the great Finance
Committee of 1797-8: on which occasion I expected a sort
of cross-examination, and was prepared for it by
much exceeding any what I could up at
present. On that occasion

On that occasion, anxious to be within the I
and not having made up any particular account and nothing turning upon the any exactness in the account, I stated (for I could not for
any compensation on
the ground of it)
no more than £9,000 even including interest. But my
real loss was to a much greater amount.
