Traveller. March 13. 1822.

New York Papers arrived this morning to the 21st
Feb. from which the following are extracts:—

[From the Port au Prince Telegraph of the 16th .]

Interesting from St Domingo.—It appears that Commodore
Aury with a flotilla of small armed vessels, under a foreign
flag wished to make an attack on several parts of the north-eastern
coast, in order to induce the inhabitants to shake off
the Spanish yoke, & declare themselves independent, they at
first approved of his propositions made in the name of the
president of Hayti, but having discovered, it was his intention
to establish a separate Government, they rejected them
& sent an address to Boyer, in which they declared their
intention to place themselves under the protecting laws of
the State, Whereupon Boyer sent a mission composed of
3 officers of the army, to D. Paschal, Governor of the city
of St Domingo.— On their arrival they found the Governor
had been shipped off & the Colombian flag hoisted
& a Provisional Junta formed; the mission then returned
to Port au Prince with dispatches from Jose Nunez de
Caceres who had been appointed by the Junta President
& Political Governor. Boyer made a suitable reply to
these dispatches."
