20 5 C
Of Defamation
or he who has the authority of a Father,
could not coercion their authority, the one
in the State, the other in this famity, if they
were provided with the power of coercion for
punishing disobedience. The Evil which they
which they occasion from the name of
punishment or charterisment. It is evident
that the punishment then in question in not
resorted to for the advantage of the
assemblage of persons great or small more or less over of
which they respectively have the controul,
and it is unnecessary to observe that this
being a part of their legitimate authority so
its coercion reg demands
no separate justification
in its of a complete justification, since nobody
would either take exercise himself the authority of a
judicial officer or of a Father if he were not
completely protected in the exercise of his power.
