looking at the great increase of property in
the Court he should rather have thought
that more business was done at the
present time. But he did not say that
this was a certain argu proof that more
business was done for he was aware
that the increase might possibly be in
the value of the causes and not in
the number. – But it was evident that
a great deal but the an more business was done upon
motions and petitions. His hon. and learned
friend admitted that the increase of
motions was about double – and he
(Mr Perceval) must allow that much
was now done on motions of
course which in the time of Lord
Hardwicke was done upon
official motion or petition. But,
he apprehended this would not by any
means account for so very large an
increase. Even the official motions
must have increased very considerably.
The Practice of the Court his
hon. friend said had not varied
materially. There was indeed no
rule or order for varying it to any
considerably – but at the same
