17 Jany 1802

Another supposition which your Lordship
could not help entertaining fail to entertain, ifit was not expressly
and strongly negatived, is – that in
regard to so many such a number of distinct
acts transactions, positive or negative, which without explanation unless explained,
must be seen to involve in the very face of them such gross and
palpable breach of faith, are such trains of
long spun treachery – such shameless remorseless and
poisonous duplicity – such cold and
and inexorable studied, and inexorable barbarity, excreted not merely upon the
single individual whom the injuries slo long heaped upon
him had rendered obnoxious, but upon third
persons of so many & such in such number,
and of such a variety of descriptions all around
– that in th in relation to all those several heads of complaint injury
some satisfaction, or at least what
ought should or might have been a satisfaction – some
sort of explanation at least – must at some time
or other have been given once. – My Lord,
no explanation – or possibility of explanation
– direct or indirect – in working or vivâ voce
has ever been afforded use by Mr Long, or
any person or persons on his behalf, t this hour
in relation to any one of these heads – in
any single instance. What your Lordship
has seen and will see in the course of these
papers contains the whole of the correspondence –
the whole of the intercourse – the whole of the information
which, at any way time has come in any way to my knowledge.
