In the character of a testimonial, not the less also for it, declaring
not being a formal one that whatsoever confidence had four years before
thus been reposed in me and to my plan was at this time doubled,⊞ ⊞ a testimonial not the less valuable for not being in effect for not being such in force – this
letter is of no small value to me.

True it is that to this multiplication succeeded and at
no very long interval an operative of a common the opposite kind – viz.
division: division of the 2000 by 16 to; quotient, 500: hesitation between

1. To find an extract a compleat answer to this question, if such
were the pleasure of the Committee, would, I a I suppose, be
within the competence of the Committee. All that I shall
presume to say is – what to the present purpose it seems
necessary for me to say – viz. that no any abatement of confidence,
either in the plan itself or in the author of it, would
(I think) not be found to be in the number.
