Of this unhappy propensity in mankind, the
most worthless among them take advantage. Perhaps
there is not a character in nature upon earth in which
human nature shews so much to it's disadvantage
as that of the Manager of an opposition a popular Newspaper:
at least of such opposition Newspapers as
we have seen of late years.

Insist on the necessity there is of such a paper,
for getting the government side a hearing. Any thing
on that side will be sure to be rejected or delay'd
upon the most frivolous pretences; and never inserted
if at all, without reluctance. The letter to Sawbridge
on Pressing was inserted – I believe only
in one paper: although the Gazetteer copy had
your signature – You will not forget the
treatment given to Attelius.
