p.2 Of the sort of thing called a Sinecure, thus much
it is hoped has been placed as already main observed is beyond dispute manifest
upon the face of it: viz. that the institution of it
never could have had for its first cause, any
such consideration as that of a regard, – no not any sort of regard – well or ill
directed, for any branch of the public service.

Nor will this probably be denied, for as much as
it needs not be denied by any the most strenuous
defender of property emolument in this shape. For if good
preponderant good is the actual result of it, what was the
end in view in the institution of it is a question of
mere speculation not worth arguing on either side.

Of the sort of a thing called a Sinecure the and consequently
of any every grant by which any such thing is
created, the mischievousness will has in a separate part of this work be been
displayed at large.

Of the sort of thing called a reversion in of a reversionary interest
in an Office, or of the grant of an Office for more lives than
one, the mischievousness impropriety is not altogether so
palpable: a few words may be necessary or use for the
display explanation of it.
