letters expressive of the sum. &#x2014; <hi rend="underline">Colour</hi> might be used with the stamp,<lb/>
not so much by way of security against obliteration (it being but a<lb/>
precarious one) as to render the letters more <hi rend="underline">conspicuous</hi> in common use. &#x2014;<lb/>
The <hi rend="underline">protuberance</hi> produced by the stamp could not (it is supposed) be<lb/>
reduced for the purpose of falsification: </p>
