Sinecures

Such as The case, in which this comparative value
was assigned, was I take for granted that in which
the reversion in life named in question is to take place next after
the expiration of the life in possession: if not till next
but one, the value of course suffers a proportionable
diminution, and so on.

But suppose upon each Sinecure no more than
one reversion ever granted: in point of economy
observe the consequence. To provide a perpetual Sinecure fund
to a certain amount the public is stands traded with a
perpetual charge to six times that amount.

It is therefore impossible that a Sinecure fund
how vast soever should be able of itself be able to answer to fulfill the
purpose of a remuneration fund – should suffer without
the assistance of a pension fund. But without any
assistance from any such fund as a Sinecure fund
a pension fund is sufficient for all purposes. For
what good purpose than have in addition to the pension
fund a sinecure fund, unless any purpose can be
known to which a sinecure is better adapted than
a pension which is impossible neither is possible and has ever been so much
as attempted.
