Sinecures

III. Third class of Sinecures: composed of those in
which the amount of the emolument is changeable, depending
at the same time at the more or less on the exertions
of the sinecurist himself or some person or persons connected
with him in point of interest or sympathy, be depending
viz. in such manner that by from such exertions it may
happen to it to be more or less encreased or preserved from decrease.

In the case of a Sinecure of this class likewise the
emolument is composed more or less of fees: and the
circumstance by which the aggregate amount of it is placed
more or less in a state of dependence on the exertions of
the Sinecurist or his connections is on such exertions
may depend more or less the number of the occasions
on which such fees shall respectively become payable be received.

To make out a compleat catalogue of the Sinecures
which belong to this third class and not se
separating them all along from those which belong only to
the second is a task well worthy of the exertions of a
hand armed with apposite power, but altogether out not lying within
of the reach of a hand not so armed.

But what does lie within the reach of every any hand since after the disclosures that have been made
is to bring to view a specimen or two sample or two of a Sinecure
of this class selecting choosing such as are respectively produce respectively productive
of respectively or contribute to producing or at any rate had a strong tendency to produce an effect the mischievousness of which may
be turned aside from but is too palpable and too universally
recognised to be open to dispute capable of being disputed.
