1. Offices not comprized in the list in existence existing Ao 1798
but not comprized in the Reports of the Committee of that sat in that
said year and the year 1797: 2. Offices established since
the date of the last Report of the Committee of 1797-8: 3. Offices
which since the date of the having been comprized
in the Committee of 1797-8 have since the date of their
last Report been abolished. – Of those the information
that might have been contained in under those several heads there surely is not
any part that but what would not have had its use.

At what point of time? by what authority? that of Parliament
for example – or that of the King in Council. These two
heads would have afforded
matter for so many Columns
and that as well in the
case of the defalcated as
in the case of the added
stock.

For some purposes there might have been a use
in combining in one list the original and the supplemental
or subsequently added stock: and even with
those two the defalcated stock.

Each list so constructed would in regard to the several
pecuniary amounts have admitted of its totals and its
grand totals: together with as also in some instances
its intermediate orders of totals. Bu such totals
much instruction, may, as everybody sees it is plain to everybody, be conveyed
in by a few figures.

In the Office list here in question no such article as a total is
in any instance attempted. Good reason why, the if articles
so put together – if annual annual amounts confounded with
triennial amounts a total is impossible.
