105. Of Forgery. Definition

[(E) Permanent] Counterfeiting Voice no Forgery. Accordingly the counterfeiting the voice of
another person is not Forgery. Sound, that is the Air put in
motion in certain manner is not a permanent but the
evanescent instrument of discourse.

From p. 1. No 1.

[(F) Instrument] Or Document. 1. No matter what the Substance. It matters not of what
nature the instrument is. It may be any kind of substance whatsoever
to which such a form has been given as fits it for serving
as a permanent sign of discourse. A piece of painting for example, or
drawing or sculpture, a piece of tapestry weaving or needlework, or any thing
which has taken the impression of a seal or stamp, may any
of them serve as instruments of discourse.

2. — Nor what the Characters. It matters not of what nature the signs or characters are
which the instrument is made to exhibit, so as they be calculated
to serve as instruments of discourse. It matters
not whether they are such as are ordinarily and constantly
used for that purpose, such as the letters or words of a
language, or such as are used by particular persons only and
on particular occasions; such as those on private and public Seals
