<p>Question.  Why exclude factitious honor and dignity<lb/>
from the treasury of reward?</p>
<p>I.  Reason for its exclusion.<lb/>
1.  Answer</p>
<p>1.  Because <del>it is useless</del> to the purpose of procuring public<lb/>
service it is needless: <del>other</del> <add>appropriate</add> means of producing<lb/>
that effect not being wanting.</p>
<p>2.  Because it is useless:  not having any tendency to<lb/>
produce that same effect.</p>
<p>3.  Because <del>it</del> it is worse that useless, to wit pernicious,<lb/>
productive of <del>each</del> evil in various shapes, and to<lb/>
a large amount</p>
<p>4.  Non productive of good in any other shape</p>
