Constitutional Code. Ch. IX. §. 17 Supplement

No person by whom the general inaptitude is ascribed
to the unpaid Magistracy, would assent to the foregoing proposition
that aptitude is as opulence: matter by to no such person
would any such can it appear probable
that by from emolument given to them or any one or more of them attached to the situation of
at the public expence over and above what would be to aptitude would in any shape
to any person so circumstanced in this respect their situation, as at present in other respects circumstanced: aptitude
in any shape would in any degree receive encrease.

What has been already applied to the case of the
Magistrate, will be to must in a sufficient degree have
to be been seen to be applicable to this.

Of Members of Parliament, as everybody knows, some
serve unpaid, – serving at public expence for doing what they do, or for doing nothing pay themselves or obtain payment
to an indefinite amount. But whatsoever this money emolument
it be that by means of this their office they it may happen to them any of them to obtain, belongs
not to the present purpose: it is not by force of
time attached to this that their office.
