Adelung in his Mithradates (II 610) mentions the circumstance of the
Greek & Roman Authors having given to the whole Sclavonian
tribes the name of Sarmatians, – the names of one of the
many people that comprised them. In some Sarmatia has been
applied exclusively to Poland – but sometimes the Russian
& other Sclavonians designate the Poles by the name of
Lachi from Lach

The complete documents of the Polish branch of the Slavons
before the time of Riz of Nazlowicz – only a few
fragments – Latin is the commonest language befirem except
the Song

M Gallus 1130 Bogaphal 1253 & Viadlubski the earliest historians of Poland
beginning of 13 Century, – Latin

The first specimen of Polish is the Bogarodzica hymn
sung before battle by the Poles – (D 990) after which
nothing is found till the 15 Century for the several
poetical compositions are referred to by the historians
as existing among the people nothing has been shared
