Courts of Justice 27? Rep. p. 254 258.
These deductions £8,000 might well be principal all taken
together: and yet joint pensions granted out of them.
Deductions as per Return says 1807-8
Of these same deductions, in the Report of the Committee
of 1797-8 a sort of account ma, it is true, be seen,
but this account is such as upon the face of it seems
of a nature rather to excite curiosity than satisfy it.
"The principal Articles" (says the Report (27) Appendix P-2
pp. 252, 253) "The principal Articles composing the deductions from
"the total Amount of the said Fees and Emoluments, are allowances
"House Rent, Taxes, Stationary, Coats, Candles, &c (signed Arden".
The amount of the Deductions as stated at that time on that occasion
is £8,608:19:10.
