Seduction is where a man by false>
pretences or promises obtains carnal knowledge
of an female who unmarried woman
who was of good fame for chastity: or by
solicitation obtains carnal knowledge of a woman
between ten and sixteen years of age
Seduction, how- many- fold Seduction is either of women or of infants
Seduction of Women grown Seduction of a woman grown is where a man by (A)
false pretences (B) or promises of marriage obtains carnal knowledge
of an unmarried woman who is of good
fame for chastity.
Seduction of Infants Minors Seduction of infants a minor is where a man
by false pretences sollicitation obtains carnal
knowledge of an unmarried woman who is younger than
himself, and between ten (C) and [sixteen] (a) years of
age and of good fame for chastity.
Exposition
[(A) By] It must appear not only that he employ'd
the false pretences or promises in question but that she gave credit to them, & insomuch
that otherwise she would not have consented.
[(B) Pretences] To wit of her having been married to
him already: for instance by acting a part with
her in a solemnity which she believes to be, and
he knows not to be a valid marriage. See The level of the Law Tit. [Marriage]
