belief or persuasion may be respecting the existence or reality
of any fact: 1. determinate belief; or belief properly so called 2. determinate
disbelief and 3. indeterminate belief
or doubt. in other words he may determine
within himself that it did happen, or that it
did not happen, or not be able to determine
whether it happen'd or no.

is (by the supposition) really is true, he is said to know
it. Knowledge accordingly imports two three things.
1. The reality of the fact said to be known. 2. a

is said to know. 3. the strength of that belief. (a)

(a) It is therefore a complex term: including things
which very oftentimes need to be distinguished. Hence the
use of it is oftentimes apt to be productive of a confusion,
from which the use of the word belief is
free.
