been under particular obligation to him, if he had<lb/>
taken advantage of the confidence reposed in him when<lb/>
on any particular occasion the woman had been<lb/>
entrusted to his care. if through any imprudence<lb/>
or vanity on his part the secret had <add>has</add> been betrayed:<lb/>
especially if any particular prejudice had <add>has</add> resulted<lb/>
to the family in consequence of the discovery.</p>

considerably inferior to that of the Gallant, a sort<lb/>

latter of patronizing the husband in return for<lb/>
the pleasure <sic>enjoy'd</sic> at his <sic>expence</sic>.</p>
