<p><note>Adultery defined.</note> Adultery is where a man and a woman have carnal<lb/>
knowledge of each other; one at least of them being married but not<lb/>
to the other.</p>

<p>It may be considered either on part of the man or on that<lb/>
of the woman; of whom either or both may have been married at<lb/>
the time.</p>
 
<p>It may accordingly be either single or double. It is single<lb/>
when only one of the guilty parties is married; double when<lb/>
they are both married. When it is single, there can be but one<lb/>
party injured; when double, there may be two.</p>
 
<p>Adultery may be of six sorts</p>

Of Adultery.

Adultery defined. Adultery is where a man and a woman have carnal
knowledge of each other; one at least of them being married but not
to the other.

Analytical View.

It may be considered either on part of the man or on that
of the woman; of whom either or both may have been married at
the time.

It may accordingly be either single or double. It is single
when only one of the guilty parties is married; double when
they are both married. When it is single, there can be but one
