We now come to consider of the punishments
which it may be proper to apply to the several
modes species of falshood . These according to the principles
we set out with ought each of them to be as
strongly as possible characteristic of the several offences.

offences to which they may respectively be subservient .

on the side of encrease by the addition of circumstances
of an afflictive nature : on that of encrease and that
of diminution both , by the degree of publicity .
