<p>Sleeping at my Daughter's house, last night,<lb/> the Globe Coffee-House, Charles-Street, Hatton-Garden, <lb/>your letter did not come to hand, till I went to my<lb/> duty, this morning. — I am much afraid, that my <lb/>opinion upon <hi rend='underline'>unaccountable Pardons</hi>, would be of little<lb/> avail, set in opposition to the Chancellor and the Privy <lb/>Council. A person in so humble a Station as I am,<lb/> could not possibly be considered but as a feather in<lb/> the balance, against such a host of consequence, with<lb/> the Recorder, as the drill-<sic>serjeant</sic> of the whole corps. <lb/>He wishes, in fact, to be thought to know <hi rend='underline'>every</hi> thing<lb/> relative to Prisoners; whereas, he knows — <!-- a blot! --> <lb/>till he enquires from the Police-Runners, or M<hi rend='superscript'>r</hi>.
