Of Extortion

if upon your offering him a fee greater than what
is his due, he accept it without telling you of
its being more than his due: or as if he does puts
off the business, or does it badly, in order that
you may think it necessary prudent to give him
a fee in the hopes of disposing him to do it
such or such a better or quicker.

Expedition money, Torte what — To take it is extortion It matters not whether the expedition which the
fee is designed to purchase be absolute: that is
whether the design is that the business should be done sooner
than it would be otherwise, without regard to any the
other business of any other man: or relative; that
with respect to the business of some other man: nor
in this case whether the design be that your
business should be preferred to that of another man
or only not postponed; nor whether you, or he, or
neither of you, has a preferable right to have his
