was there ever such an abuse of words?<lb/>
Strictness? in what? in the execution of the<lb/>
law? of that part of the law which is<lb/>
committed to the Judicial power to execute?<lb/>
No: but in the application of the shameless<lb/>
pretence set up for breaking it.</p>
 
<p>Law over easy! 'Strictness' (viz such<lb/>
as above) grown to be a blemish! as if there<lb/>
were ever a moment in which it was not<lb/>
a <del>censure</del> &#x2014; <add>crime</add> and act of contempt against the<lb/>
legislature &#x2014; a crime which had it met<lb/>
with its deserts would have drawn the<lb/>
Author or Authors with ignominy from the<lb/>
Bench.</p>

so then in itself the practice like that of<lb/>
