The Enclos'd, I hope, will give you as much pleasure as it
do's me; I dare say you saw in some of the Papers an account of
Genl Touaras & two other Officers being at Vienna, & that from the they had to go to
Leghorn & the Archepelago, Sacre it seems of his Party, & at
the destination was to view & give directions to the
, it in are accounts for their engaging here
to be of their Party.
I saw Mr Austin of the Secretary of State's office yesterday
had rec'd to me a Part a part of a Letter he had just <sic.rec'd</sic> from
Whitworth at Cateriburg,, which instead of then up, served
to heighten the Mistery about the to the Kergeec —
from Tobolsk, which in a former Letter he told Mr Austin
he had sent hither directed to him, & that he took it
for granted it wod be to be found among the Pages of his
office, whence by this last letter, in answer to Mr Aust's
having at my request of Whitworth about it, at
it had not been , his Whitworth word tells him, yt in fact he
never had it, but that Mr Bentham (Sam) would be
the Bearer of it himself, as he was coming over to England,
and one may conclude that therefore Sam was or had
lately been himself at Ecatersburg, tho' the Inclosed Letter
mentions nothing of it, however, as we have reason
