I am Of Flyder's and Buttals money I am sorry to have
nothing more satisfactory to tell you now than in my last. Part
of it I have we had been expecting according to promise for three two or
three months. The whole is perfectly safe: but the difficulty of
communication in this country has prevented it being sent as yet.
Sam has by this time, I hope been at one or both of the places from whence
he is to come. When he sends it I believe it will be through Mr Shairp
I have taken every precaution step for the punctual remittance of it which
anxiety could suggest: written instructions to him: letters to other people
to remind him of it. From me you can It will not come I believe be sent directly
to Petersburgh from Cherson without passing through this place, &
consequently without my knowing any particulars of it <add> its being till after till some time after an uncertain
time. I mention this that you may not be surprised if between
it receiving if you should receive future letters from me without further mention
of it. Money which had been originally allotted for this purpose was
diverted applied without my privity knowing how the matter stood to defray
the unexpected expense of the Imperial Vermicular which otherwise
must have been left unfinished, and by that means the whole of the
money thrown away. If the experiment succeeds, Sam hopes the
principle may be turned to applied with advantage in the way of patent to the purpose of inland <lb?> navigation in which case he would take out a patent. I have suffer'd
to much about this cloth business to beat all disposed to take any
part in any one in future.
