Art. 3. And whereas the Proposal of the said Jeremy
Bentham which formed the ground of the present
agreement was delivered in on or about the th of March and which
which was in the year of our Lord 1793 and whereas
since that time the prices of divers articles necessary
as for the and intended building may
have undergone a very material enhancement And whereas
in particular the peice of has within
said undergone an enhancement by means of a
duty thereon imposed by Parliament whereby there
is reason to apprehend that the said sum of
L27,000 although at the time when first stipulated for aforesaid, it was sufficient for the intended purpose,
would not now be sufficient fo rthe same And
whereas the delay from whence such increase of
charge may have accrued has not happened through
any default on the part of the said Proposer, but
through the of the whereby the
attention of Her Majesty;s Ministers has been
called off to still more urgent
Now therefore it is hereby
further agreed that over and above the said originally
stipulated sum of L27,000 shall be an allowance
shall be made on the part of His Majesty to the
said Jeremy Bentham sufficient to
