1820. Dec.r 28th
on Sunday next. In speaking of M. B. he seemed enraptured
with him, observing that anyone of the works published by
Dumont, were sufficient to immortalize his name. I was
much struck by the physioenomy and manner of this extraordinary man, and my impression is that, he combines
more of the primitive Christian, just as those whom Christ
selected to preach his doctrines, than any one else I ever saw
or heard of. We passed a pars of this evening as Mr. Clarke's
where I met M. Julien, a man of some notoriety, and Editor
of the Revue Encyclopèdique, a work that is rising just, and
which I propose making subservient to the interests of the
good cause as much as in me lieth. An article on the Consejos
is to appear in the Courier forwith. I also hope to
make them known through the Revue. Llavente is here, but in
disgrace with M. and myself for having inserted an article
in said Revue, giving a most partial and incorrect
account of the periodical and daily press at Madrid.
