Thirdly, with regard to the restraining certain
mischief, the is mischief committed to no purpose
encreasing the [danger of detection] facility of discovery In order
that detection may be compleat two things
corres Now the purposes for which detecting discovery is
necessary and is to be wished for are two: 1. the
putting a stop to the mischief of the offence in the
instance in which it is [detected] discovered ; and 2. the punishment
of it for the in the view of preventing the
commisssion of the sa like offence on future occasions. In putting
