When to these abominations are added the abominations de-
-lineated in a former address- the decimation by disease & suffocation
in so many floating Black holes during the passage, the much more
than decimation by famine after arrival at this land of cruel
promise- the worse corrupted profligacy- the universal wretchedness
in which the survivors are overwhelmed- the portentous waste of
public money at which in the teeth of conviction the founders
of the system were to the last moment of their political existence
content to purchase- sacrifice such as these- the perseverance
with which these abominations have been kept up for purposes
as incapable of being denied as they are unfit to be avowed-
when all this mass of guilt is piled up together- does no the
history of Perillus present itself at every word to a mind accustomed
to connect the idea of analogy with the image of avenging justice.
