INFORMERS.

We may infer that this a Prosecutor in the greater ins apt to be looked upon in France with an
evil eye , (just as an Informer on the Commercial & Fiscal Statutes Revenue Laws is with
from the pains taken by a French writer on the French to prove that he ought not. + + Code Penal Pref. p. 8 — "The publick Inter it (says he amongst other things) requires "that this prejudice be banished" — If exists therefore . There are but two ways to banish it : & which must concur but they are certain : & they must soever in recompense — The first is , to moderate the rigor of those Laws which disturb the public Happiness, & to abolish the Laws against such as do not : the other is to give free scope to authors by publishing their sentiments without reserve on the subject to shew make out clearly the connection betwixt prosecution the execution of the Law in every [particular] instance & public general happiness , & through that of particular [happiness.]
