Turnpike Act — Observations on
82 § 53.
Procedure There is no Limitation of Time for summary prosecution
The Action must be brought within a Month
after the Offence, & the notice must be given 10
days before the bringing of the Action; this leaves
21 days in the longest months & but 18 in the
shortest for finding out the offender the Prosecutor's finding out the an
Attorney, for the Attorney's proposing the case
for Counsel, for the Counsel's settling the form
of the notice (which is a thing often done) for the Attorney's
getting it back from the Counsel, & for his meeting
with the Deft to serve it on him: all this upon the supposition
that the "Officina Justitia" is kept always open;
of that there are no Sundays, and that the Post
takes up no time in coming up to London from Truro or Carlisle.
