What idea does the author mean to give
us of the great Legislator of the Universe? He
forms in his own breast a law, which is to
be binding over all the globe in all Countries,&
in all times, and yet does not condescend to
publish that law to the very Creatures people who are to
be bound by it for thousands of years and
then he publishes it only to a small part of his
creatures, though still it is to bind them all. He
gives themindeed, (according to our Author) sufficient means of arriving at the
knowledge of this law; and yet he allows that the moment
sufficient as those means are, our author [?] that the
moment they are applied they prove to be insufficient these means are given theyinsufficient
&so continue to be for ever after.
But says our Author these means wouldbe
