Dear Bentham
I received your letter with uncommon pleasure for I had almost despaired of ever hearing from you again, such an obstinate silence had you maintained notwithstanding the repeated inquiries after your health & your commands. My satisfaction at seeing your letter was indeed much abated when I found the cause of your not writing to be of so serious a nature. For godsake do not your eyes to any injury in so ignoble a service. If you will transfer your bureau to Lord Wilson (if he is not become too great a man) & I will act as your commix & you shall use only the eyes of your understanding making us a pair of spectacles to protect your mortal sight from all injury.
I fear much you are mistaken in your Law. I have been employed this hour in looking over all the abridgements & some of the Equity reporters & cannot find any ground to warrant you in refusing to pay a debt of any kind within the

year after the testator's Death. By the start of distributions an admin is not to distribute the residue until one full year after the Intestates death. It is a rule in Equity that an Exor Executor is not compellable to pay a legacy where no time of payment is mentdmentioned in the will till a year after his death; But I find it said by some master of the Rolls
