Given there isGiven at least, is thus the number of thesedifferent Boards, over
and above those at present in existence, to whom
in virtue, of the powers above mentioned, the Crown
might have given, and for any thing that appears
might now and at any time hereafter give, the same
judicial authority, as that which is possessed and
exercised by the Board of Excise. As it has happened, the functions of all theseseveral projected Boards
have been severally been committed to, and are now
exercised by the Excise: for that Board being a Board
those Commissioners werethat set of Commissioners being ready made as capable of receiving the
several appointments as any other set of Commisionersthat could
have have been made: and it was by the nominating of them for the
purpose in each successive instance that the several distinct powers happened eventually
to be executed.
