Speaking of a man in this situation, in vain, as a reason for omitting any arrangement common in this situationIn vain would it be said of the

opposite descriptions: namely The one sort is that of the sincere or relatively
honest litigant; and ofthe other, that of the insincere or relatively
dishonest litigants
First, as to the sicere honest litigants. In so far as, in
his eyes, they are able to detect any sacrifice he
might be disposed to make of their interests to his
more sinister interests, viz, by giving increase to
the quantity of delay vexation and expence for
the sake of his profit upon theexpence, - in so far
