as to send me. For particulars relating to myself I
must refer you to Notman who having spent some part
of every day with me for some months past, though he
knows nothing of me before I came here can probably
satisfy you with respect to most particulars you may
wish to learn about my situation at present.
He is engaged by the Prince to erect a leather fabrick here
which is one of the establishments under my direction: but
I find him so ready and capable of assisting me in many
other things that I employ him in all manner of commissions
and he generaly makes one at my table at dinner.
I am sorry I have no wine of the Crimea to send you.
It is not used in this part of the Country: but I have desired
some to be sent me from Cherson and I hope by some other
opportunity to send you a taste of it. The sending of
Notman was so sudden that I had no time to prepare
any thing in the way of curiosity as he should be back here
again in less than three months.
