was not want of as far as my opportunities Rose
of observation extended - any want
of executive industry is in acknowledgementa testimony, which
that truth and justice demand of will not allow
me to refuse in calling forcall for at my hands
the sense of justice will not allow me to with hold.
Having thus danced me about, in a
kind of purgatory of his own, for about between six
and seven years, it was in some direful mo ment
- not many months before the opening
of the prospect relative to the Salisbury Estate -
that my evil genius, in the shape of
I know not what one or more of the "Thrones
diminutions, princedoms, virtues, powers" that
know about the Treasury prompted and determined
how, to deliver me over, without
repdemption, to be tormented by Mr Long.
I had had for some time a presentment
of my fate: but it was not till abouttowards the
middle of September 1798 (above three

Salisbury estate) that the storm, in all its
blackness burnt fell upon me.
