Sir
At the pressing solicitation earnest and re-iterated insistences of the Author of the proposal for a currency by stock note spoken of in this paper made to me through the medium of a common friend (for, to keep my mind free from I never would harm him &&c yet know who he is) I engaged in the examination a review of it. He speaks of it as having appeared to have made a favorable impression on a very high authority in matters of finance: by which is to be understood if what I have h has reached my ears from other quarters be correct — the very highest In my own instance this impression of the first moment was positive: but examination did not confirm it. Compelled, by the view I have taken of the plan to regard it as impracticable, I hope it I shall not be regarded as affording the ungracious -- press -- to me that I do no injury
my ground for complaining , in submitting to you, too, what has appears not only to myself, but to several intelligent men by whom the main proposition had been entertained to be amount to a demonstration of the impracticability of it: for if it really be it its impracticable, the sooner it is understood to be so, so much the better for all parties who are concerned.
