That in pursuance
of the object of the
conspiracy, having
ether within his
own breast alone
or in concert or
with the privity of
the rest of the Conspirators
or some of
them determined
to effect the ruin
of J.B. in mind
and fortune by all
such means as should
present themselves as
safe and adapted to the
purpose, he embraced
all favourable occasions
for plumping
him into expenses
in the way of litigation
or otherwise — and <lb/. by keeping out of his hands, as far as possible,
all means of
defraying such expenses

and the better
to effect it he scrupled
not either himself by secret
practices to engage
individuals in offices
subordinate to the Board
to act in contradiction
to directions
given by him in his
official capacity by
authority of the Board
or at least if not
active himself in the
such secret counter-directions
he was
privy to their having
been given — or at any
rate when officially warned
of it wilfully neglected
to take any measures
for checking such
secret p disbursements
or giving effect to the
lawful directions and
authority of the Board.
